The music we listen to and the clothing we wear define us as surely as the scars we carry. They reflect who we are or aspire to be; broadcasting and obscuring who we may be at that moment. What we know and what we want to be true of our self, become mixed in a stew of hope, fantasy, shame, consumerism, rebellion, and realization. My choice of album covers has as much to do with my actual past choices as it does my rewriting of my history. The fabric they are embroidered on falls into the fashion choices of those performers and their fans; while my embroidering of the background of the original images allows that fashion statement to become the emblem or hero of the image.
