Alter Egos
In conversations with people - some friends and family, others strangers met in public while waiting for a plane - I have had many reactions to the idea that I knit to make my artwork. While I chose to use knitting because of its connection to the feminine, I am surprised by the people that are truly shocked to see me knitting. The Alter Egos prints grew from these experiences and explore different venues for a "typical" man to be knitting in. Some are very private like a home (Zack Reads) or rehearsal space (Back Stage and Practice). Others more public like a pasture (Cowboy), or a bar (Pick-Up), or a football game (At the Game). As important as the venue might be the role of the man in the image - sports spectator, musician, military, or cowboy.
